Ellie was a Half-Breed Demon in a relationship with John Constantine. She was the one who informed John that Lucifer would come up and personally collect his soul when the time comes. She's one of the many demons who sides with Mammon. Her reasoning behind this was that she preferred being on Earth, and Mammon's reign would ensure her place there. John, with the help of Chas, was able to defeat the demons. But John was unable to kill Ellie, so he let her go.

She is portrayed by Michelle Monaghan

Biography[]

At some point, Ellie stayed with John Constantine at a Sunset Boulevard motel. John attempted to ask her about Lucifer's plans, but was interrupted when the two of them ended up having sex. After doing so, John attempted to ask her yet again, but Ellie was evasive, instead making fun of John's cancer and Lucifer's impending appointment to personally pluck John and cast him into Hell. According to her, nothing out of the ordinary had happened on her end, and that her relationship with Lucifer was of more of a contractor rather than employee. Ellie told John of her regret that she would be alone once John passed.[1]

Later, John spotted Ellie at Papa Midnite's club, sitting at a table with two demi-angel half-breeds. She smiled at him and asked whether he wanted to party. John replied that he was a little short that night, with Ellie replying that she could fix it. John reiterated his refusal and she turned back to her companions.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Ellie was based on the character Chantinelle, from the original comics, who is a disgraced succubus who became friends with John.
  • Ellie was originally going to be a main character in the film who was allies with John, but this was written out, with the intention of making John more of a lonely character.
    • She does, however, make various appearances in deleted scenes. Most of these scenes were retained in the novelization.
