Biography[]

History[]
Papa Midnite and John had a history prior to the events of the movie. Both seemed to remember their former glories.
Midnite meets with John again in his bar with John looking to use "the chair". Midnite initially asks John whether he came to sell relics, then asks him how long he's had his cancer. John tells Midnite about a full-fledged demon attacking him out in the open, but Midnite assures him that it's impossible for one to cross through to the mortal plane. Midnite then gives him a brieff history lesson about the "original superpowers". John tries to convince Midnite to join him, but the latter reminds him that he is neutral, as long as the balance is maintained. Both remind each other of their former glories, with Midnite being "one Witch Doctor against 30 Ashgar", and John being "THE John Constantine". Balthazar shortly arrives, and John beings threatening him. Midnite breaks up John's verbal assaults, reminding them that they are in his house and will abide by his rules.[1]
Later on, when John barges into Midnite's office demanding the chair, Midnite angrily states that he is neutral and subsequently flings John into a wall with telekinesis. John manages to convince Midnite into letting him use the chair. After pulling John from his state of astral projection, Midnite greets Chas Kramer who had just entered the room. In a different room, Midnite gives Chas some gold to melt and asks them what their plan is. Before they both leave, Midnite prays for both of them. [1]
